The client

One fateful day in an entrepreneurship class at Brigham Young University, Abby Warner, Taimi Kennerley and Zoia Ali were placed together in a group. They became fast friends, and were coined “The Girls.” Little did they know that this class would lead them to eventually found The Girls Company and launch their signature product: The Band (the world’s thinnest heated band, no electrical cords or outlets required). Their mission? To make period cramps suck less. Because life shouldn't stop when your period starts. Period.

In order to bring their vision to life and get the necessary funding, The Girls entered a variety of business competitions. They stood out at every event they attended—they went on to become the first all-female team to win first place at the International Business Model Competition.

PR campaign for The Girls Co based in Utah

The situation

The Girls Co. discovered us through the press our client Moon Cycle Bakery had done. They had recently received the finalized version of their product and were ready to hit the ground running to gain exposure. They had been featured in a few of their local outlets in Utah, but had never experienced a thoughtfully developed PR campaign.

We tested out their product for ourselves and knew that we had to help share their creation with women around the world. We went through a variety of exercises and PR campaign examples to determine the appropriate target audiences/angles—then got to work.

Our PR tactics resulted in The Girls Co. being named the number one solution for period cramps by Real Simple; they received coverage from top-tier publications such as Sweety High and Utah Business Magazine. We had The Girls appear on a variety of talk shows and podcasts in order to build their credibility in the entrepreneurial and women’s health spaces.

We continue to advise The Girls on a variety of business decisions, as they work to further develop their brand and supportive community.
